    Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College, Muradnagar organized 6th Annual Workshop “BiotechniX-2017: Tools & Techniques in Biotechnology”. Students from 5 different Schools of Ghaziabad and Muradnagar participated in the Workshop. Students performed Hands-on experiments on different modules designed for them. Hands-on training on Total RBCs count, Isolation of DNA from plant cells, Recombinant DNA Technology, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, Plant Tissue Culture, Laminar Air Flow work station, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics were performed under able guidance ship of the faculty members of the department.

    Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College, Muradnagar organized a seminar on “Transforming the Life with the Magic of Mind” on 5th Dec 2017. The invited speakers were Dr. Anuj Agarwal and Dr. Sunil Kumar. Dr. Anuj is a motivational speaker and delivers lectures on various topics related to our everyday life. He delivered seminar on Understanding and Managing Life as a Pyramid. Dr. Sunil Kumar as a professional motivator conducted various thought provoking training sessions particularly for the students to share his huge experience & knowledge to help them to achieve their goals successfully. The students learned Visual-Auditory-Kinesthetic (VAK) learning styles model which provides a simple way to explain and understand learning styles.

    Seminar on the occasion of “World Environment Protection Day” 26th Nov 2017 on the theme “Inside and Outside Air Quality” was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College, Muradnagar. World Environment Protection Day is celebrated on 26th November every year to raise global awareness of the need to take positive actions to protect environment. Seminar session was organized by the students of B.Sc. (Biotechnology) I, II and III year and M.Sc. (Biotechnology) I & III Semester students. Students presented their PPTs and various topics related to environment and discussed about the current concerns and measures being taken by different agencies and government bodies. Air Pollution being caused by burning crackers, vehicle emission, industry emission etc. were the main topics discussed by the students. Every faculty and student present in the seminar hall took pledge to go green and save our planet.

     On 6th Nov, 2017 a Seminar cum Workshop on “Motivation: Need of Today’s Student” was organized by the Department of Biotechnology. The invited speaker was Mrs. Rachna Kakkar. Mrs. Kakkar has good experience of Psycho Counseling students of various disciplines. Theme of the workshop was motivation which is very much required for the college going students. Motivation is a major factor which is very helpful in shaping their career and future especially for those students who consider themselves weak and go into the phase of depression. Mrs. Kakkar interacted with the students and through her PPTs and lecture motivated them for positive thinking and to succeed in life. She also discussed on overcoming stress factors which is the major cause of depression in younger generation.

    16th Sep, 2017 on the occasion of ‘International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer’seminar was organized on by the students of Biotechnology on “Save Ozone, Save Earth, Save Life”. The International Ozone Day is an annual event that commemorates the date of the signing, in 1987, of the Montreal Protocol. The event was organized by the Department of Biotechnology to create awareness among the students about the Environment. The major highlights were that students got to know about the ozone layer, about the significance of ozone layerabout the causes of ozone layer depletionStudents also got aware about the harmful effects of ozone layer depletion. Ten point presentations on various topics of environmental concern and ozone layer depletion were presented by the students which were appreciated by the faculty members. At last a quiz session was also performed to create environmental awareness among the students.

    Faculty and Students from Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College participated in a 3 day Conference at Wellness India 2017 Expo, New Delhi. On 30.08.2017 Biotech India Day was organized and Technical Sessions on Medical Biotech, Agri Biotech, Animal Biotech and Bioinformatics were held by the experts of respective fields. On 31.08.2017 Organic India Day was observed in which Technical Sessions on Organic Farming, Smart Foods, Organic Medicines were held. It was a great interactive event for the biotech students in which they learned and observed recent developments that are taking place in biotechnology field.

    Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College, Muradnagar in association with Disha Education Society, Raipur organized an “Apprenticeship Awareness Program for Women” under National Awareness Scheme initiated by Government of India and UNDP on 30th March, 2017. Disha Education Society prompts the community of students to cater to the demands raised by multinational companies and industries. Dr. Vinay Dwivedi, member DEC introduced the students about various types of schemes running by the Government of India for the welfare of women. He focused basically about Apprenticeship program running by companies including food companies like Mother Dairy, Bombino, Britannia, Priyagold etc. in which the students do apprenticeship after enrolling themselves in UNDPs Apprenticeship Program. After completing the apprenticeship of 6-12 months in which the student will get stipend of around 10000/- pm they will be placed in the same company or any other.

     Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College, Muradnagar in collaboration with Institute of Clinical Research India (ICRI) organized a one day seminar on "Career Opportunities in Clinical Research and Health Care Sector". The Technical Session was given by Mt. Ashutosh Srivastava Regional Head, ICRI,  in which he explained the scenario of demand and supply in the field of health care sector and also the entry level for students on various positions in hospitals and health care units. He discussed how the big branded companies like Lal Path, ThyroCare etc, are able to provide complete body checkup and other tests at comparatively much lower costs. He also discussed about growing industry of Health Tourism and role of Indian companies. Biotechnology students get aware of concept and importance of Clinical Research. Students got aware of the types of positions available for them in different fields of Health. Over all the seminar was completely interactive and beneficial for the students.

     Department of Biotechnology organized a one day Workshop on “Stress Management, Motivation and Academic Performance” in association with MCKS Yoga Vidya Pranic Healing Foundation, New Delhi. The main purpose of organizing this workshop was to develop the habbit of meditation and concentration in the students. It has been observed that teens at very early stage surround themselves with many negative thoughts which directly and indirectly affect their studies and career. A great initiative has been taken by the MCKS Yoga Vidya Pranic Healing Foundation, New Delhi in which they train the students on how to come out with all negative thoughts and concentrate on studies. The workshop proved to be very beneficial for students and also for the faculty members. Special thanks to our B.Sc Biotech III year students Ayushi Singhal and Shruti Sharma for taking initiative and organizing the workshop as an active member of the Pranic Healing Foundation.

     Department of Biotechnology organized a one day seminar on “Entrepreneurship and Job Scenario of Biotech Industry in India”. The technical session was addressed by Er. Mayank Raj Bhardwaj, CEO of Rapture Biotech India. Mr. Bhardwaj established his own venture and presently established five research and training in different parts of the country and one in Nepal. Students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. Biotechnology actively participated in the seminar. Students came to know about diverse academic and career opportunities available for them after graduation. Students came to know about scholarship available for them at various levels after UG and PG. Students came to know about how to start own business in Biotech industry and become “Job providers” instead of “Job seekers”. Mr. Mayank also discussed about the problems being faced in present scenario like lack of awareness, lack of trained skill personals etc. He also suggested how to overcome with these problems. A healthy interaction session was also held between Mr. Mayank, faculty members and the students.
